The Wonders of Life is one of the most popular pavilions in Epcot. Located next to the Universe of Energy, Wonders of Life explores the origins of life and health in general. Disney approaches the subject in a frank manner, but won’t offend anyone delicate sensibilities. The shows are engaging as well as educational, keeping this attraction one of the busiest in Epcot.
Four attractions presented by MetLife make up the Wonders of Life. The main attraction is
Body Wars, a motion simulator flight through the human body. Another multimedia presentation is
Cranium Command, an entertaining presentation that demonstrates how the cranium co-ordinates different regions of the brain and body during the course of a 12-year old boy’s day. The Cranium Command and it’s elite corps of Brain Pilots help Buzzy, the protagonist through a tough day. See if you can name some of Buzzy’s famous organs during the 20-minute film.
Another film is The Making of Me, a surprisingly touching and educational look at human reproduction. Starring Martin Short, this 14-minute film blends animation and live action to tell the story of where babies come from. Sex is frankly discussed in this lighthearted film intended for children. The Wonders of Life has synchronized the start times of the three films so you can see them one after another.
The final section is the Fitness Fairground, a huge educational playground where kids can play with interactive sports and fitness displays. One highlight of the Fitness Fairground is the AnaComical Players Theater. This improvisational comedy troupe includes the audience in some educational and funny shows presented throughout the day.
Body Wars
This mild motion simulator ride was the first flight simulator in Disney. In this adventure, the audience is shrunk to microscopic size and injected into the human body. As the craft travels through the bloodstream and careens off organs, riders are gently jolted in every direction. If you’ve been on any motion simulator ride before, you’ll find that Body Wars is much less turbulent but just as fun. This might be a good primer for the other motion simulator rides in the park like Star Tours in MGM Studios. Be prepared to wait in line for this popular attraction. Go first thing in the morning or during meal times. The ride is five minutes long and is not recommended for pregnant women or those with medical conditions that could be aggravated by motion.
